Enables the Local Redevelopment Authority for Roosevelt Roads, as it awaits transfer of ownership of acreage from the U.S. Navy, to sustain redevelopment activities at the former Naval Station Roosevelt Roads to include operations, maintenance, coordination of infrastructure and utility improvements, administration of piers, and management of leases. Fiscal Year 2020 Award

Enables the Oak Harbor Public Schools to plan the necessary public infrastructure and services to support growth at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island. The project includes feasibility and preliminary design studies needed to finalize capital improvement plans, refine scopes, and secure future funding to address the condition and capacity deficiencies at five schools and related transportation concerns. These planning efforts support the education of military connected children. Fiscal Year 2020 Award

Enables the Office for Operational Excellence at the University of Alabama in Huntsville to enhance the supply chain for DoD by assisting small and medium size companies with cybersecurity compliance to include compliance with DFARS 252.204-7012/NIST 800-171 security control requirements and DoD's new Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification published in 2020. Activities involve individual company assessments and gap reports and then completes system security plans for select companies. This project stimulates cooperation between statewide and local adjustment efforts making the industrial base more resilient to cyber threats. Fiscal Year Fiscal Year 2020 Award

Enables the Governor's Office of Planning and Research, together with the Governor's Military Council and the California Research Bureau, to facilitate a comprehensive, statewide Economic Impact Study measuring the total economic impact of federal investment on California'­s economy. The study analyzes data to measure the financial impacts of defense spending on supply chains, research hubs, military hospitals, tourism, employment, and other factors that contribute to California'­s economy. This project stimulates cooperation between statewide and local adjustment and diversification efforts making the industrial base more resilient to fluctuations in defense spending. Enables the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity to deliver a series of cybersecurity focused educational and engagement events with Florida's defense manufacturing sector. Complimenting a curriculum and set of best practices developed through other partnerships, activities will support greater awareness of defense cybersecurity requirements and DoD's new Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification published in 2020. Enables the University of Illinois to support the defense industrial base in the State of Illinois through education and technical assistance for defense suppliers to achieve compliance with DFARS 252-204-7012/NIST 800-171 cyber security requirements and DoD's Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification published in 2020. This grant is a modification for an earlier project that targets small companies and involves a series of educational workshops, assessments, gap reports, and system security plans for select qualifying companies. Enables the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and MxD Learn, the workforce arm of MxD (Manufacturing times Digital), to develop a curriculum to address the need for cybersecurity for operational manufacturing technology for defense manufacturers. The objective is to provide current workers with learning opportunities that result in certification(s), giving them the tools necessary to execute careers in manufacturing cybersecurity. Enables the Kentucky Commission on Military Affairs to provide a program to develop cyber talent. The funding is used for exam certification fees, and places students with defense contractors to embed practical experience through an apprenticeship as a form of on-the-job training. Enables the University of Massachusetts Lowell to implement workforce development activities that promote industry resilience--based on uncertainties in defense spending--by training "next generation technicians" in innovation-based companies in various advanced manufacturing technologies. This project stimulates cooperation between statewide and local adjustment and diversification efforts making the industrial base more resilient to fluctuations in defense spending. Enables the Maryland Department of Commerce, in partnership with Maryland Manufacturing Extension Partnership, to provide outreach and technical assistance to Maryland defense businesses who need to meet the DoD cyber security standards. The program will provide four educational workshops, will assess 30 companies for compliance, and provides technical assistance and mitigation to 20 companies to resolve issues identified during their cyber security assessment.
