National Environmental Policy Act Documents
The National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) was established to foster informed and sound decision making that appropriately considers potential physical, biological, economic, and social effects on the quality of the human environment. NEPA requires that Federal agencies consider direct, indirect, cumulative, or reasonably foreseeable effects, short and long-term effects, and adverse and beneficial effects on the environment and human health. Grant actions funded with construction components must adhere to requirements of under the National Environmental Policy Act (40 CFR Parts 1500-1508).
