Public Schools on Military Installations

Enables the Anne Arundel County Board of Education to address capacity and condition concerns at Meade High School on Fort Meade, Maryland. Meade High School is ranked as #30 on the Secretary of Defense's Public Schools on Military Installations priority list and combines modernization and new construction. In 2020, Meade High School was projected to serve more than 2,000 students of which over 600 are military connected. Fiscal Year 2020 Award

Constructs an Emergency Medical Services substation to enhance life, health, and safety by reducing the medical response time to reach Soldiers/Families residing on Fort Huachuca. The project enhances the existing Inter-Governmental Support Agreement which is the sole provider of ambulance service to the installation. Fiscal Year 2020 Award

Fort Irwin
Defense Community Infrastructure Program

Renovates outdoor athletic facilities to include repairing the turf fields, upgrading the dugouts, and resurfacing the track. The project enables Fort Irwin-based school and youth sports programs to practice and host home sports competitions on safe playable surfaces. Renovates existing facilities to establish a pre-kindergarden-8th grade charter school to support military families assigned to Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling that currently select home-schooling or long bus rides over enrolling their children in local schools. Defense Community Infrastructure Program

Constructs a gymnasium, basketball court/performing hall, weight room, squash court, emergency shelter, and three multipurpose rooms. The project provides an off-installation resource/shelter that currently does not exist; directly benefits all active component Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps personnel/families residing off-installation; and provides overcrowding relief for on-installation resources. Installs new carpet in 43 classrooms, replaces floor tile for 11 rooms, conducts asbestos abatement, and paints the following schools: East Elementary School, North Elementary School, West Elementary School, Hacker Middle School, and Mountain Home Junior High School. The project significantly enhances the educational environment for all military-connected students at these schools which represents the only local public school option for on-base students in grades 5-12. Renovates/modernizes an off-post childcare facility to provide additional classroom space. Defense Community Infrastructure Program
$335,000.00
Improves utility infrastructure (water main relocation, fire hydrants, valve boxes, and power utility poles) in support of life, health, and safety for service members rotating on/off the island of Tinian. Further improves community-based emergency management at this remote location. This effort further sets conditions for future military quality of life projects such as permanent billets and recreation facilities. Fiscal Year 2020 Award

Malmstrom Air Force Base
$10,000,000.00
Constructs an indoor lap pool, therapeutic pool, recreational pool, fitness area, gym, child care, and classrooms for the only Northern Tier base without access to a public indoor pool. The project resolves the need for an on-base MILCON funded fitness center and indoor pool authorized in 2005 but never constructed due to funding limitations. Fiscal Year 2020 Award
